There's some great golf for women in Myrtle Beach. Forget all those guys with visions of golf and girlies in their head. Myrtle Beach has some of the East coast best golf courses for women. Let us take you to another world, that will challenge your golfing ability and prove to you that women's golf in Myrtle Beach is alive and well. Many of my women friends from New York, Washington and other parts of South Carolina love to come to Myrtle beach for their golf and they head to the south end of the beach!

Take it from me, a local gal who has played many of the Myrtle Beach golf courses! Golfing in Myrtle Beach can be an experience, good or bad, depending on who you depend upon...and some information is more dependable than others, if you get what I mean.

I consider the
South End of the Beach to the very best for women golfers coming to Myrtle Beach. One of the very nicest places to stay is Wachesaw Plantation, a private course, and my home course since it opened. If you choose to stay in one of their charming golf cottages, we can also book you on their golf course. The cottages are nestled under old oaks with Spanish Moss, have 2 bedrooms, kitchen, and you have use of all the club facilities, including practice range with free golf balls supplied, tennis courts and wonderful Kimbel's restaurant.  It is a treat to play with an old South atmosphere that is hard to find anywhere else. The 18th green overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and the whole experience is a level above. Of course you would not be restricted to just playing golf at Wachesaw.

Golf for Women magazine named Willbrook Plantation as #25 on the list of best courses for women to play, and guess where that is, you got it, South of Myrtle Beach. A Dan Maples design, women golfers love to play this course. I can vouch for that as well. Another women friendly course is The Tradition Club. A slope of 118 from Ladies tees, The Tradition CLub was also voted "Top Fairways" for 1998 by Golf for Women (right next door to Willbrook),  Both are just about 5 miles from Wachesaw Plantation, if you choose to stay in a golf cottage.  And two more possible golf courses in the area would be the The Witch and Blackmoor, both out on the 707 corridor.

There are great shops down South as well, Pawleys Island has many boutiques to browse, and the best furniture store in the Myrtle Beach area. Food is great, you don't have to travel great distances for it either. You can go to The Inlet for the best in seafood, for true gourmet you can try Frank's, and Franks' Outback is more casual. You can go to Devine's on the deck for views and great food. You can wander down to Georgetown and steep yourself in a day of history with house tours or museums. To capture the total charm of the area take a look at the photos and see if we haven't picked the best area for women to play golf.
